In case anyone checks out the always awesome SharpeSince92 blog, you would know he occasionally has code contests from time to time.  Not sure if I was the winner, so I’ll wait for confirmation 🙂

What are these cards????

with 3 comments

I picked these up at a local card show today because I’ve never seen them before, and I’m sure there are plenty of Canseco/Griffey/Sandberg supercollectors out there that don’t have them.  They are some kind of metal, have nothing on the back, and don’t appear to be numbered.  Any clue???!!!  They look to me like early 90s based on the picture…sorry for the poor photos, they came from my camera phone!

Amazing Thread Regaring 90 Topps Frank Thomas NNOF!

leave a comment »

I was making my rounds through some card forums this morning trying to learn everything I can about this year’s Ginter set, and came upon an awesome discovery.  If any of you are around my age (born in early 80s, started collecting in mid-80s) you are well aware of the infamous 1990 Topps card of Frank Thomas with no name on the front:

It turns out, there are several cards that had this issue, it just so happens that it was some sort of printing error, and luckily Frank was the only card of the bunch to have this error fall completely over his name plate.  It is a very long read but well worth it if you were into this sort of card back in the day!

My New Venture

leave a comment »

Fellow hobbyists, let me first say that I apologize for the lack of posts lately.  I got sucked back into collecting and got completely burnt out a few months later.  There are simply too many products out there to buy, and of all the money I spent this year I pretty much have very little to show for it (except the title of Ginter Code Champion, but Topps still hasn’t called me back yet about the prize!).  Obviously with all of us being collectors there are underlying sports that we enjoy.  While my love for the cardboard has diminished, my love for sports burns on.  It is because of this I started a new blog that I hope will keep my interest longer than this one does.  I’m hoping each of you check it out, bookmark it, maybe leave a comment or two, and if I’m lucky add it to your blogrolls.

www.thatfan.wordpress.com

Still a work in progress, but one that I think any true sports fan will love.  As more Ginter Code news comes, I will be back here to post it!

2008 UD Masterpieces Added to Want List

with one comment

I apologize for the lack of updates lately (I know you all are very upset about this by the way!), work has been pretty hectic.  Anyways, I updated my want list by adding my needs list from 08 Masterpieces.  I bought a box of this a while back and thought I was closer to building the set than I actually am…oh well.  In addition to what I am showing as available, I’ve got some framed cards and the Yankee Stadium inserts, so if you are looking for something in particular there let me know.

I’m also sending out a package to Chris over at Nachos Grande / Fan of Reds containing a little bit of everything from his needs list, and a package to my Ginter Code partner in crime Mike at JDs Wild Cardz to help with his 09 Heritage project.  Be sure to check out his Heritage want list if you are trying to get some cards from that set a good home.

As an aside, I try to update my want list pretty frequently even if I don’t post, so please keep checking back to see the most recent version.

Let’s make a deal!
