Help Me Figure Out The Future of My Collection!

with 3 comments

I’m at a crossroads right now of what I want to collect going forward. My main goal has been to collect each of the Topps base sets from 1960 through 1990. Obviously this would take me many years to do, and would be my main focus of my collecting for the next 10 to 15 years.

However, I was fortunate enough to have a card in this year’s Allen & Ginter set for being the 2009 Ginter Code champion (#165), and part of me wants to scrap the 1960-90 idea, and instead start trying to complete a master set of 2010 A&G. I would collect the entire set of the following: base, regular mini, A&G back mini, black border mini, no number mini, Bazooka minis, all of the special mini sets (wordsmiths, animals, Celesital Stars, etc.), all of the boxloaders and n43s, all of the relics, and all of the autographs.

I wouldn’t go for the silk cards, the red autos, wood cards, blank backs, book cards, printing plates, or any of the other really rare stuff like nameplates or dinosaur relics.

Obviously the 2010 set has deep sentimental value to me as I actually have a card in the set. What are your thoughts? Which would you do if you were me?  Leave a comment below and let me know!

I also want to give an update on my chase for the various versions of my card…here is where I currently stand on that end.  First, the fronts:

Now the backs:

So I have the regular base, regular mini, A&G back mini, black-border mini, no number mini, bazooka mini, silk (error), blue printing plate, and the 1/1 blank back.  Still need: black, yellow, red, printing plate, and the 1/1 wood card.  If you locate any of these let me know!

Don’t forget to leave a comment for what route my collection should go…2010 Master A&G set, as that set has more sentimental value than any other set ever will, or go for the 1960-1990.  Thanks for reading!
